Having read Fata Morgana, your poems walk the line masterfully. They're an inspiration that push me to reach further in my work. It frustrates me that you, and other poets, have to defend lyric poetry, and that there are categories into which poets must be pigeonholed and ostracized, much the same as other arts. Hopefully the pendulum will swing the other way soon.
KristinKristin LaTourhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12294824671479086308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014415529871703586.post-38664381939116161582008-04-11T15:40:00.000-06:002008-04-11T15:40:00.000-06:00I second that, Diane. How can that go away?Better n...I second that, Diane.
How can that go away?
Better not.Jim K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16105117011358723753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014415529871703586.post-23802128179545576512008-04-04T21:47:00.000-06:002008-04-04T21:47:00.000-06:00Geez, Gallagher, you missed it by half:I wrestle w...Geez, Gallagher, you missed it by half:

I wrestle with this necessary angel
and rise renamed,
blessed but also lamed.

Nice, Reginald.Diane K. It reminds me of Larry Levis' essay "The Gazer Within," where he says, "The moment of writing is not an escape, however; it is only an insistence, through the imagination, upon human ecstasy, and a reminder that such ecstasy remains as much a birthright in this world as misery remains a condition of it."Roberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13471547669854013234noreply@blogger.com
