This is an idea that many writers share, even some writers who teach in creative writing programs, and so may dovetail with the viewpoints professed at some creative writing programs.

Take care, and thanks for reading and commenting.

ReginaldReginald Shepherdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11965170916626482963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014415529871703586.post-17068341607145429082007-04-10T14:50:00.000-06:002007-04-10T14:50:00.000-06:00Reginald: what about the people, some of them actu...Reginald: what about the people, some of them actual writers, who criticize creative writing programs for the kind of writing and writers they produce? This kind of criticism doesn't seem, at first blush, to match up exactly w/your characterization, though I may be missing a connection.

I believe very strongly in writing programs & workshops, though I admit they have flaws (as do most things in this glorious world o'ours).Lawrence LaRiviere Whitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00060484548455926167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014415529871703586.post-10222164644722330442007-04-09T23:15:00.000-06:002007-04-09T23:15:00.000-06:00First there is the World of Education, and then th...First there is the World of Education, and then the Unreal World outside.Brian Campbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17182888011015400963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4014415529871703586.post-28455909682256433622007-04-09T14:29:00.000-06:002007-04-09T14:29:00.000-06:00Dear Mr. Shepherd, The song "Winsbourogh Cotton Mi...Dear Mr. Shepherd, The song "Winsbourogh Cotton Mill Blues" and its verse about the foreman 'Junior' rolling his eyes, drinkin' coca-cola an' eatin' eskimo pies, says something about the way in which flaws perpetuate themselves in systems.

Future "real life" academic communities need not be bound by perpetuated flaws if they refuse to step in line and lose the very property of their right to self determination. I am quite astounded that a "learn now/pay later" strategy has not been the"real deal"
progressive institutions offer, and offer at the level of a legal/social contract, straight across the board. Public domain and weak recognition of intellectual rights is a hallmark feature of a watered down mass market oriented society. Our rights community is quite far from being fully evolved and this is representative of flaws in social character, on the level of individuals. It is a very sad state for considering the opinion we promote of ourselves.scotlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01549546977518972516noreply@blogger.com
